Approach

How we think about markets.

Markets are noisy, adaptive, and endlessly humbling. Our response is method: to reason carefully, to test honestly, and to let evidence rather than conviction lead.

First principles

The firm takes its name from Paul Dirac, whose work paired mathematical beauty with a relentless insistence on getting the fundamentals right. We try to work the same way — starting from clear assumptions, building structure we can reason about, and understanding why something works before trusting it.

Probability over prediction

We are less interested in forecasting the future than in describing it honestly. That means thinking in distributions rather than point estimates, quantifying what we do and do not know, and remaining comfortable with uncertainty as a permanent condition rather than a problem to be waved away.

Systematic and reproducible

Our research is systematic by design. Ideas are written down, tested against data, and held to standards of reproducibility and robustness before they earn any weight. We are as interested in the ways a model can fail as in the ways it can succeed.

A research culture

Good research needs room to breathe. We keep the firm small and the feedback loops short, favouring depth over breadth and patience over haste. Scientists and engineers here are trusted to follow ideas carefully, to disagree openly, and to change their minds when the evidence asks them to.

The goal is not certainty. It is clarity — about what we know, and about what we don't.
